Melech Mechaya (me-lekh me-khah-yah) means The Party Kings in Hebrew, an apt title for this unusual Portuguese band. They turn their concerts into a non-stop party where the audience laughs, dances, participates, and gets involved in an irresistible performance.
With 'Aurora', Melech Mechaya they release their most surprising, innovative and original work so far, pushing the boundaries of Klezmer music towards a sound that is uniquely their own.
Melech Mechaya are celebrating their 10th anniversary with the CD 'Aurora', the band's fourth musical project. The album was mixed by Tony Harris (who worked with groups such as R. E. M., Sinead O'Connor and The Verve) and features special guests: Filipe Melo (piano), Noiserv (vocals) and Lamari de Chambao (vocals).
The previous albums on Felmay Records, 'Melech Mechaya' and 'Strange People', were highly successful and presented at over 150 concerts in 10 countries across 3 continents. -
