Description
Mass Production, a ten-piece from Norfolk Virginia who after playing on the local scene and opening for the bigger acts of the time came to the attention of music business entrepreneur Ed. A. Ellerbe who managed and steered the band through six albums on the Atlantic distributed Cotillion label.
The band ended up making a total of eight albums with a few minor personnel changes from their debut Welcome To Our World in 1976 presented here for the first time on CD with Believe.
The first album features the single Welcome To Our World, the funky dancers Wine-Flow Disco, I Love To Dance, and ballads Our Thought To The World and Galaxy, while Magic is a slice of feel good funk!
The second album Believe is a mixture of funky jams with chanted vocals like Free and Happy, I Believe In Music and People Get Up complete with superb horn riffs.
Also from Believe, the band made a significant dent on the U.K club scene in the late 70's and early 80's with their 12 instrumental jazz funk anthem Cosmic Lust, actually a club classic to this day, recently remixed by Joey Negro.
To sum up, Mass Production were a jazzy, soulful. and to steal a phrase from the late Nina Simone funkier than a mosquitos tweeter.
