Description
In 1985 Columbia Records released the album Too Hot To Stop It. The first single from the record was a heartfelt rendition of Sam Cooke’s ’57 golden hit You Send Me, produced by Morrie Brown and peppered with Chris Cioe’s saxophone solo. The album was a tribute to their original lead singer George "Smitty" Smith. The second single that year, the sweet beat ballad Don’t Say No, reached number 20 in the Billboard black charts. The music on Too Hot to Stop It is more up-tempo and synthesized, witness Angel of the Night and C’est La Vie. The title track is a beater with strong rock elements to it and was co-produced by Marc Blatte and Larry Gottlieb. Another smooth track is an a-capella cover version of their ’67 song When We Are Made as One, dedicated to George Smith. The album reached number 44 in the R&B album charts. Perhaps not their best-selling album to date, but one which is still highly in demand by all eighties music fans.
