L'île de Tulipatan (The Island of Tulipatan) is an opéra bouffe (a form of operetta), in one act by Jacques Offenbach to an original French libretto by Henri Chivot and Alfred Duru.
It is coupled here by extracts from his opera La jolie parfumeuse is an opéra comique in three acts of 1873 with music by Jacques Offenbach. The French libretto was by Hector Crémieux and Ernest Blum.
L'ile de Tulipatan is taken from a performance in Paris in 1958 and features singers Lina Dachary, Deva Dassy, Joseph Peyron, Andre Balbon and Rene Lenoty. Accompanied by the RTF Chorus and Orchestra and conducted by Marcel Cariven , this is a welcome addition to the catalogue.
La Jolie Parfumeuse (excerpts) features soloists Christiane Harbell, Denise Duval, Jean Giraudeau, Jacques Luccioniand Jacques Mars, conducted by Marcel Cariven in a performance in Paris in 1956.
