Description
Thanks to Joseph Herter and the source materials he provided, for almost twenty years, the achievements and person of the post-Romantic emigrant composer Zygmunt Stojowski has been returning from the depths of oblivion, which contributes to him regaining his rightful position in the history of music of
the Polish nation.
Zygmunt Stojowski is increasingly recognised and appreciated as a composer, pianist, and an outstanding teacher. His piano, symphonic, and chamber music work has become the subject of research and has been increasingly appearing in the repertoires of world concert halls. While piano works have become slightly more recognisable due to increasingly numerous performances, Stojowski's vocal and instrumental pieces are still known to a very narrow audience.
Thanks to the extremely valuable CD initiative of Magdalena Molendowska and Julia Samojo, this unfavourable situation may soon change, and music lovers will have a great opportunity to discover works of one of the greatest Polish composers of the turn of the 20th century.
