Description
Belfast trumpeter Linley Hamilton, host of a late night show on BBC Radio Ulster, steps into the spotlight with his quartet to perform a set of jazz classics - old and new.
Formed in 2010 the Linley Hamilton Quartet immediately took to the road, touring across Ireland and headlining at one of the venues at the Cork Jazz Festival. Led from the front by Linley the band consists of drummer Dominic Mullen, bassist Dan Bodwell and pianist Johnny Taylor to whom Linley pays the ultimate accolade by naming the album after him.
Linley has been a part of the Irish Jazz Scene for over twenty years since joining the Irish Jazz Orchestra. Since then he has juggled a career as a trumpet player with being a BBC Jazz Broadcaster and an educator with Making Music Workshop. There have been many career highlights with significant performances or recordings with Paul Brady, Van Morrison, Foy Vance, Eleanor McEvoy and Jacqui Dankworth.
"Hamilton is one of the best trumpeters on the local scene, with a fluent, mobile style and a lyrical imagination." - The Irish Times
