Description
On their first two releases, Low-Fly Quintet drew inspiration from the jazz of the early 20th century. On this third release, "Tankepalass (Palace of Thought)," they maintain their devotion to the well-known "old jazz" while expanding their musical palette with fresh nuances. Several members of the quintet have also contributed as songwriters on this album, resulting in a refreshing diversity in the song material.
The quintet features two female front figures in vocalist Camilla Tomta and cellist Siri Snortheim. It is evident that the quintet has a vision where vocal expression and storytelling, along with the cello, both melodically and percussively, are trademarks of their musical universe. Simultaneously, the piano trio has room to deliver inspiring solo performances and playful rhythms that infuse the entire composition with freshness, occasionally tinged with longing.
The concept that the Norwegian language can complement this music led to the quintet's third release consisting exclusively of original material with Norwegian lyrics.
Low-Fly Quintet has elegantly woven together the old and the modern, creating a harmonious bridge that unites the beauty of the past with the vitality of the present. The album comprises nine songs that take the listener through the entire spectrum of emotions, from moments of melancholy to effervescent euphoria.
Low-Fly Quintet received enthusiastic reviews for their initial two albums, both at home and abroad.
