Our Roots explores Belgian harp repertoire: hidden gems by Jeanne Adrienne Kufferath and Jacqueline Fontyn are performed alongside Felix Godefroid and new compositions written by the harpist herself. The forgotten Simple Histoire et Autrefois by Kufferath and Godefroid's virtuosic La Danse des Sylphes are played on the historical Erard harp, and newer compositions by Jacqueline Fontyn and Lise Vandersmissen can be heard on the modern pedal harp. Our Roots showcases both the rich history of the Erard harp as well as the wide possibilities in the modern harp-world. Lise Vandersmissen is a Belgian harpist living on a canal boat in London.
