Description
Colombian singer and percussionist Alejandra Charry has constantly sought opportunities to explore the vocal techniques, forms, and ancestral rhythms of her country's traditional music, transforming them in unexpected ways through collaborations with some of the most daring jazz musicians on the young European scene. French double bassist Thibault Cellier, for his part, embodies jazz and improvised music and the constant urge to reinvent musical traditions.
They assembled this quartet - featuring tenor saxophonist Sakina Abdou and Moises Zamora Mezu on chonta marimba and percussion - driven by a desire to push the universal utopia of their respective backgrounds a step further. To build new bridges between the lyricism and expressive freedom of contemporary neo-free jazz and a musical heritage rooted in dance, trance, and melodies from around the world.
