Description
It was during the corona pandemic that the Kugoni Trio worked on this, its third album.
After Timelapse (2016) and Essence by Kugoni Trio (2019), the trio now presents Classics Revisited, a collection of new works in diverse styles by composers who either created new works in collaboration with the trio or who received commissions from them.
Kugoni Trio pairs this new music with existing works by Astor Piazzolla, Charles Koechlin, Dmitri Shostakovich and Jan Decadt.
The Kugoni Trio have a firm commitment to the communication and understanding of classical music in new ways and therefore provide a platform for today’s emerging and important composers as well as for established classical values.
They carry out a great deal of studio work with composers as they search for a new understanding of contemporary classical music.
The trio has long sought to expand its repertoire of works for saxophone, violin and piano; now, some dozens of commissions later, the ensemble is considered to be a champion of new music and of Belgian music in particular.
They are the dedicatees of many of the works on this new recording.
