Description
Sven Lyder Kahrs releases the portrait album "Curlew" on Aurora Records. "Curlew" features some of the leading musicians on the contemporary music scene today; the trio Pitches in Regalia, Kristine Tjogersen, David Alberman, Hakon Thelin amongst others.
"Curlew" opens with the title track "Curlew" performed by the string trio Pitches in Regalia. The name refers to the bird species curlew that according to folklore could predict the future. The album also includes a rather unusual trio of bass clarinet, contrabass clarinet and double bass. The title "O ihr Stimmen des Geschicks, ihr Wege des Wanderers" is a quote by the poet Holderlin where destiny and the wanderer' paths are juxtaposed. Last, but not least, David Alberman presents the piece "Comme le ciel parmi les ailes des oiseaux". The title is an excerpt from a poem by Paul Eluard and translates to "like the sky surrounding the bird's wings". Kahrs' musical universe springs from a volatility, a presence, and a diversity connected by imperceptible and multiple dialogues.
