Description
HALF-SPEED MASTER VINYL EDITION OF KATATONIA'S 2001 FIFTH ALBUM OF DARK ROCK & METAL MELANCHOLY, AGAINST A BACKDROP OF URBAN DECAY - PRESENTED ON BLACK VINYL.
Katatonia was formed in 1991 by Anders Nystrom & Jonas Renkse. Their debut album was released in 1993, gaining the band recognition for their eclectic brand of gothic doom/death metal & joining acts such as "Paradise Lost" & "My Dying Bride" as one of the genre's defining bands. On future albums, a more immediate & focused Katatonia sound came to the fore, starting with third album 'Discouraged Ones' - the main evolution point for modern day Katatonia - before the band also integrated more progressive elements.
Originally released in 2001, 'Last Fair Deal Gone Down' saw Katatonia ambitiously expanding their sound to create one of the most celebrated albums of the band's career.
Containing 11 highly emotional & socially aware pieces, including the singles 'Teargas' & 'Tonight's Music', the album is a superb example of Katatonia's unique brand of Gothic-tinged Metal & considered a breakthrough album of sorts for the Swedes upon its initial release.
Following on from previous album 'Tonight's Decision', 'Last Fair Deal Gone Down' displayed a new-found maturity & accessibility only hinted at on their previous albums.
The mournful vocals of Jonas are, as ever, ably backed by the inventive guitar work of Anders to create a potent & absorbing atmosphere.
This edition of 'Last Fair Deal Gone Down' is presented on black vinyl with printed inner sleeve & features a new half speed master courtesy of AIR studios for optimal sound.
