Fresh from touring Europe Julie Fleix had been spotted by Leonard Cohen in Ibiza and then relocated to London. Following growing success as a troubadour on the UK circuit from folk clubs up to the Fairfield Halls in Croydon, and later the Albert Hall, Julie was offered a contract with Decca.
She originally left Santa Barbara, California with her Mexican guitar, singing songs learned in Mexico and California, and songs picked up along the way. Injecting a modern consciousness into the traditional scene, she was totally at one with the times.
Including songs from her Spanish-Mexican heritage, songs from her contemporaries Dylan, Seeger, Ochs and Tom Paxton (including the famous ‘Going To The Zoo’, and ‘What Did You Learn In School Today)’, plus songs from her new found friends Donovan and Bert Jansch, and songs from her own pen.
