I started thinking about making “All That You Dream” back in 2017. I needed to release some more music but I didn’t have any songs. The thought of making a tribute record to one of my heroes didn’t really appeal to me until I started to think about the music of Little Feat and Lowell George.
I grew up listening to this music. My parents were both huge Little Feat fans and their records were playing constantly. At Dad’s house it was Feats Don’t Fail Me Now, or Little Feat, the self titled record and at Mom’s it was Down On The Farm and Fat Man In A Bathtub. I can’t even say that I like this music or don’t like it because it’s in my blood. It’s a part of my upbringing. Lowell’s sound, both his voice and his guitar playing, is so familiar to me; like an aunt or uncle who comes over all the time.
My intention was never to create a tribute to this music as much as it was and is to celebrate these incredible songs and records through the lens of my own life story as a musician. It’s a bit of a round trip that starts with the songs and works it’s way through Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, though Miles Davis, Mike Landau, Robben Ford, Ry Cooder, Bonnie Raitt, Chuck Campbell and of course Lowell George. This music, these songs, they mean the world to me and I hope that people can hear how much I love it when they hear my take on it.
