Although exceptionally talented, Joan Shaw (born in 1930) never really got her dues in the early days of her career. However, enormous success came later when she reinvented herself in 1965 under the name of Salena Jones and moved to Europe, where she enjoyed a long and successful career touring, recording, and appearing on tv shows . She became a household name in the U.K. and highly popular in Japan.
On Sings for Swingers, Shaw is backed by an 11-piece group including great swing players Ernie Royal, Seldon Powell, Bucky Pizzarelli, and Milt Hinton.
