Description
A second superb live session from Trad Jazz legend.
Cy Laurie was one of the pioneering jazzmen of the early 1950s running a successful band and a leading West End club. He made the national music and daily papers when he suddenly 'disappeared' in 1958 to India to study meditation (years before The Beatles). This ensured him cult status on the Jazz scene. In his return in 1964 he formed a new band and remained on the Jazz scene as a guest soloist.
This CD is made up of recordings from Lake's collection of tapes from the Dancing Slipper in Nottingham. This is Vol 2 and Vol 1 proved to be the best selling Cy Laurie CD Lake has released. It is a superbly recorded lively session from 1968 augmented by four tracks recorded for the Parlophone label in 1958
