Description
180g vinyl - the complete album + 8 bonus tracks.
The first formation of the legendary Brazilian vocal group Os Cariocas saw the light in 1942. From the very start, they stood out thanks to their elaborated arrangements for four or five voices.
They became the most representative vocal group of bossa nova after their 1957 recording of Jobim and Vinicius' "Chega de Saudade" with Joao Gilberto on guitar (included here at the end of Side A). From then on, they took part in several important bossa nova events gaining acclaim for their unique blend of bossa nova rhythms and melodies with modern jazz harmonies. Their 1962 album A Bossa dos Cariocas, presented here in its entirety along with eight bonus tracks, finds them at the top of their game.
Recorded in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1962. Original sessions recorded by Silvio Rabello & Celio Martins and produced by Armando Pittigliani.
