  • Description

Jerry Gray was one of the finest Big Band arrangers of his generation, best known through his association with the great Glenn Miller band, and prior to that with Artie Shaw. Apart from arranging, he also had a hand in writing both "String Of Pearls" and"Pennsylvania 6-5000".

When Miller disappeared in 1944 on a French-bound aeroplane, it was Jerry Gray who took the helm of Miller's AAF Orchestra. Subsequently, he led his own band, as showcased here, which kept alive both the Glenn Miller sound and moved ahead with fresh ideas in arranging. 25 tracks running over 72 minutes.
