  • Description

Oliver Cherer began writing most of these songs as far back as 1983 on a cassette 4-track in a squat in London's Elephant Castle under the influence of the first Ben Watt LP, Cherry Red's "Pillows & Prayers", the early Durutti Column records and lessons learned from Glenn Branca.

35 years later, Cherer revisited his box of tapes and finding himself with the guitar Vini Reilly of The Durutti Column used on Morrissey's first solo album, 'Viva Hate,' (on loan from a friend), sculpted them to completion. There's undeniably a nod to Watt and Reilly here but also to the pensive, more pensive work of Robert Wyatt.

Cherer recently received much acclaim (and radio play) for his conceptual album 'The Green Line' (Clay Pipe Records) under the alias of Gilroy Mere. He is undoubtedly one of Britain's most prolific but relatively unsung singer-songwriters, releasing 5 albums in the past 4 years.

'I Feel Nothing Most Days' marks the 39th release on the independent label Second Language Music, which turns 10 this year.
