'A strange sound comes drifting across the flood plains of South Yorkshire: West Coast harmonies sweeten the air, finger picked guitar carries a quietly lonesome beat, ghostly whistling sends chills down the spine, and psychedelic echoes recall the eerie soundtrack to The Wicker Man.'
The music of Hotel Brown has been described as ‘Vocal Harmony Psych-Folk’ and 'A 21st Century Pentangle' - a sound that encompasses a wide range of influences, from '60s vocal groups like The Mamas & The Papas and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young through to Hounds Of Love period Kate Bush and on to John Martyn’s, or even Talk Talk’s more tripped out sonic adventures. The twin acoustic guitar talents of Dave Angel & Rory Garforth are somewhat reminiscent of the legendary Bert Jansch/John Renbourn. Add to the mix the Angel Brothers global roots rhythm section of Andy Seward, Jim Lockey and Keith Angel; the ghostly ethereal whistling of Niki Seegers and the result is a delicious and unique blend of influences old and new with a distinctly dark psychedelic twist .
