Description
This essential release presents Hunter's second album, Rock & Roll. It was originally issued in 1957 by the Atlantic label and was produced by the legendary team of Jerry Wexler & Ahmet Ertegun. The LP contains selections of previous Atlantic singles, taped between 1954 and 1956 (this was the period in which Hunter enjoyed the greatest pop success). At times this material is reminiscent of Nat King Cole going rock & roll and R&B. There's also a prominent country tinge to some of Joe Hunter's ballads, such as "Since I Met You Baby".
In addition to the original long play, this remastered collector's CD contains 12 bonus tracks, consisting of hard-to-find sides. Some of these recordings were released during the same period while others date back to 1950.
