Two-fer containing a pair of albums from the Pop vocalist plus bonus tracks. Gene Pitney was one of the biggest pop stars of the pre-Beatles era. Equally comfortable on big beat ballads, rockers, country and R&B, he was a perennial chart presence during the '60s, amassing a sizable string of hits. His dramatic tenor voice, given to piercing climaxes, coupled with the talented composers he worked with (such as Burt Bacharach-Hal David, Gerry Goffin-Carole King, and Phil Spector), led to a wealth of catchy rock 'n' roll and pop gems that still sound fresh today. This quintessential release includes Pitney's first two LPs: his debut album THE MANY SIDES OF GENE PITNEY, and his classic sophomore effort, ONLY LOVE CAN BREAK A HEART. Both masterpieces were originally issued in 1962 by the Los Angeles-based Musicor label, and have been remastered and packaged together in this very special collector's edition, which also contains 5 bonus tracks from the same period.
