    First time on CD for this 1978/79 recording by the Scottish saxophonist Jim Galloway. The quartet perform a selection of standards by the likes of W.C. Handy, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Bennie Moten.

    Galloway has been resident in Canada since 1964 where, as well as performing, he's introduced a weekly jazz show on radio, founded and directed a major jazz festival in Toronto as well as writing a weekly column for a music magazine. He's been a frequent visitor to these shores playing the European jazz circuit with Buddy Tate, supported with modern pianists like Ray Bryant and Roland Hanna and joining forces with Jay McShann, Bud Freeman, Vic Dickenson and Bobby Hackett.
