Description
Silence is Golden is a dramedy album. The popular film genre and our recordings have something in common: 'Silence is Golden' contains tons of heavy content that is made easily digestible when it's transported through humour. Tragicomedy has always been a special genre: in ancient times, a satyr play followed the great tragedies, Shakespeare's dramas are interspersed with comic scenes, and Charlie Chaplin, Peter Sellars, and Ernst Lubitsch even alluded to the horror of the Nazis or the atomic bomb with the content of their comedies in The Great Dictator, Dr Strangelove, and To Be or Not to Be. Some find the laughing at this subject matter liberating; others consider it inappropriate and frivolous. We subscribe to the first group because we believe that humour allows us to look at serious issues from a distance, providing us with the opportunity to find possible solutions to problems. After all, they do say that 'speech is silver'.
