Description
A tribute to the music of the Piedmont blues icons, harmonica ace Sonny Terry and acoustic guitarist Brownie McGhee. The album combines the musical talents of Guy Davis and Fabrizio Poggi and should not compete with the originals. It's supposed to be a love letter to Brownie and Sonny.
Guy Davis is a leading blues musicologist and, like most guitar and harmonica players, he was deeply influenced by Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee. The same applies to Fabrizio Poggi. Both owe Sonny Terry above all their harmonica styles.
Guy Davis and Fabrizio Poggi play in duo: Guy Davis took over singing and guitar; The harmonica is played by Fabrizio Poggi. Part of the material is quite complicated, as are the originals. It's a mix of mostly familiar tunes with a few obscure melodies. Guy Davis and Fabrizio Poggi wanted to challenge themselves. An awesome ode to blues masters Terry and McGhee.
