Gary's Gang was an American R&B/pop rock group best known for their U.S. Top 40 hit "Keep on Dancin'," reaching #41 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978. The song also climbed to #8 in the UK Singles Chart, #14 on the Hot Soul Singles chart in 1978 and also made #1 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. "Keep on Dancin' " was a truly Disco masterpiece in late 70's. George Michael sampled it for his "Flawless" hit single. Two of the group's other songs: "Do It At the Disco" and "Let's Lovedance Tonight" were also charted the Hot Dance Club Play chart. The latter was later used as the sampling background track to Soulsearcher's 1999 #20 Club Play hit, "Can't Get Enough". It took long enough for somebody to realize the importance of this disco diamond! It's not the most in depth record of it's kind, but it's definitely one that stood out with it's sometimes kooky but highly funky one-of-a-kind synth riffs. The percussion work is deep, their horn section was quite talented, the band as a whole was skin tight, and Eric Matthew's vocals were unmatched. The sheer rarity of this album alone could be enough to stir your curiosity but let me solidify it by saying that "Keep On Dancin'", "Let's Lovedance Tonight", and "Showtime" will forever stand as serious disco classics. Funk beginners will savor those 3 tracks, while truly seasoned disco vets will rejoice in having this full LP restored to its former glory.
