Description
After successful reissues by the likes of Don Cherry, the John Betsch Society and Raphael, Heavenly Sweetness now presents the self titled 1975 debut album by the Belgian jazz/funk group Solis Lacus. The vinyl version comes complete with inserts and download code.
Solis Lacus is the first group of the renowned Belgian pianist Michel Herr, a pioneer of electric jazz in the 70's in Europe. The group regularly shared the stage with Placebo, Marc Moulin's cult band. There are even two musicians shared by both groups, as well as a similar sound and groove. Solis Lacus is the European counterpart to the sound experimentations of Herbie Hancock's Headhunters, or the best albums on the CTI label from artists such as Freddie Hubbard. An exciting European jazz album to rediscover, as was the case with Placebo, Cortex, Michael Garrick, Ian Carr and the MPS catalogue.
Personnel: Michel Herr (keyboards, kalimba, percussion), Richard Rousselet (trumpet, flugelhorn, percussion), Robert Jeanne (tenor and soprano saxophone, percussion), Felix Simtaine (tenor saxophone, percussion), Nick Kletchkovsky (fender bass), Bruno Castellucci (drums, cuica, percussion)
