This Moment is a Flash, the 2005 premiere release from Canadian folkster duo Dala, debuts the signature harmonies and sharply smart lyrics of Amanda Walther and Shiela Carabine. The popular Canadian drama series Flashpoint featured the album's single "Fortress" and spurred a huge response, creating instant and deeply dedicated fans. The rest of the album breathes with lush arrangements, with both girls playing acoustic guitar and piano, complimented by tastefully distorted guitar, light percussion and themes of love lost and found through a bittersweet coming-of-age.
With five consecutive Canadian Folk Music Award nominations, a Toronto Independent Music Award for Best Folk Group as well as many other accolades, Dala is a favorite in the US Festival circuit with recent appearances including New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Strawberry Music Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and a repeat appearance at The Newport Folk Festival. They have also appeared on syndicated radio including Mountain Stage, NPR's Folk Alley and World Café. -
