Description
With the CD Rencontre - Begegnung, the figure humaine kammerchor is devoting itself in particular to the art songs of the composer Gabriel Faure, whose death will be 100 years old in 2024.
Works by Faure's teacher Saint-Saens and Gounod complete the French section; the German part is represented by songs by Fanny Hensel, whom Gounod knew personally.
The original songs are for solo voice and piano, which Denis Rouger has arranged for choir and piano, so that the expressiveness of the solo voice is transferred to each individual choral part.
"Conductor Denis Rouger's expertly crafted choral arrangements of Fauré songs […] form the bulk of this centenary-scheduled album, […]. His handiwork is excellently served by sensitive, beautifully even singing." – BBC Music Magazine (5 stars)
