A special album dedicated to the Chinese New Year, a 15 day festival - also known as the Spring Festival - beginning this year on 18th February. Popular and traditional Chinese New Year music from different parts of mainland China as well as Taiwan, Hong Kong and overseas.
Also including new compositions especially composed for Chinese New Year celebrations. The album was recorded by the 10-piece, UK-based Heart Of The Dragon Ensemble together with seven musicians from the Beijing National Taditional Music Orchestra.
Instruments are guzheng (horizontally-played harp), Dizi (bamboo flute), Erhu (two-stringed fiddle), Pipa (pear-shaped lute), Yangqin (hammered dulcimer), Suona (Chinese oboe), Banhu (Chinese violin), Yue Qin (short-necked lute), Liu Qin (another kind of lute), Daruan (bass lute) and percussion.
