  • Description

Tintoretto's self-titled album is a rerecording of their previously released catalog, which was originally split between two releases; an EP and a four band compilation CD. This release was originally thought to be just a simple remastered collection, but upon further thought, the decision was made to rerecord the songs altogether. The albums tone consists of angular, discordant rock with math rock influence dusting underneath. The eight songs span the breadth of emotion; love, loss, death, betrayal, euphoric happiness; the lot. Originally these songs were recorded by Eric Atkinson in various basements. The songs were then rerecorded by Shane Hochstetler, the drummer of the band and owner/operator of Howl Street Recordings in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the United States.

Tintoretto's self-titled material is the latest release from Expert Work Records, a prolific Columbia, Missouri-based record label specializing in post-hardcore, post-rock, noise rock, math rock, and other similar music genres. This particular release compiles the extended play release and tracks previously appeared on a 4-way split. Heavily influenced by bands like Rodan, Shipping News, June of 44, Fugazi, Hoover, Regulator Watts, The Crownhate Ruin, and The Last Crime, Tintoretto delivers rich and luxurious sonic imagery that will satisfy even the pickiest post-hardcore and noise-rock fans. Their approach to writing, composing, and arranging each track highlights their unpredictable and complex sound. The guitar work on the album is particularly noteworthy, showcasing a hypnotic and intricate atmosphere where rhythm and lead guitars engage in a continuous struggle for dominance. This duality creates an immersive listening experience, with progressive and complex themes, melodies, and harmonies interacting with calm, soothing, and ethereal chord progressions alongside aggressive, heavily distorted riffs.

    • Beneath the intricate guitar layers, the bass guitar provides immense support, adding heaviness, clarity, and depth to the overall sound. Its roaring presence is a constant throughout the album, grounding the compositions while enhancing their intensity. The impressive drumming complements guitars and bass, keeping everything in line with intricate beats, breaks, fills, and other percussive acrobatics. The drums dictate the groove and tempo, anchoring the music while allowing the other instruments to explore their full sonic potential. The vocals on this album unquestionably stand out, as they continuously levitate between calm, melodic, clean singing techniques, and powerful screams and shouts. This vocal versatility adds another layer of emotional depth to the album, perfectly capturing the range of emotions conveyed in the lyrics. These tracks still sound innovative, fresh, and unique, like they were recorded yesterday. Each song arrives with a perfect structure, adorned with intricate segments and impressive instrumentation. Tintoretto is one of those rare bands whose members delivered all the vocal, sonic, and rhythmic maneuvers with sincerity, confidence, and passion, qualities that are vividly hearable during each moment of every song. Together they create a colossal slab of emotionally driven sound, with aggression and calmness continuously levitating around. Anyone even remotely into writing and composing music knows it's a hard task to achieve, but Tintoretto did it with such ease back then.
    • The vinyl arrives in a high-quality, full-color printed gatefold sleeve adorned with impressive design, making it a must-have for collectors and fans alike.
      Influences for the album:

Part nineties Louisville Kentucky independent music scene and part Washington D.C. music scene; a juxtaposition of angular guitars and pounding rhythm section.
