Description
Daans Janssens wrote Eineschone Mullerin in 2018, commissioned by the Leuven-based Festival in 2021, with the support of Muziekcentrum De Bijloke and SPECTRA. The starting point was the well-known song cycle Die schone Mullerin by Franz Schubert and Wilhelm Muller from 1823. Although Daan Janssens' reinterpretation of this masterpiece keeps the original recognizable, it is so much more than merely a "modern instrumentation." Janssens adds additional textual and personal musical elements, thereby creating a new work in which two sonic and two poetic worlds are intertwined in varying degrees. Past and present signify each other.
This recording marks a reference point in the ongoing collaboration that SPECTRA has established with Daan Janssens since 2007.
