Description
Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a newly re-mastered & fully restored edition of the classic self-titled album by Progressive Power Trio Clear Blue Sky, originally released on the Vertigo label in 1970. Clear Blue Sky came together in the late 1960s in Acton, West London. Comprising John Simms (Guitar, Vocals), Ken White (Drums) & Mark Sheather (Bass), the band came to the attention of musician & producer Patrick Campbell-Lyons (of the UK band Nirvana) in 1970. In a role as A&R man for Philips’ “progressive” label, Vertigo, he signed the trio to the label and produced their self-titled album the same year. “Clear Blue Sky” is now a classic of the era, a fine example of muscular progressive rock that belied the fact that the trio were all eighteen years old when the album was recorded. This Esoteric Recordings edition presents the album in its entirety on CD for the first time (as all previous editions omitted the final part of the track ‘Birdcatcher’ for reasons unknown). The release features an illustrated booklet, previously unseen photographs (courtesy of John Simms), an essay and interviews with John Simms and Patrick Campbell-Lyons and fully restores the albums original artwork.
