This recording celebrates an exciting collaboration between mainstays of the Dutch and British folk and world music scenes, who have joined together to create a unique sound. And what a result!
Five terrific musicians – all composers. Right from the opening track we are treated to a diversity of sound that reflects their unusual combination of instruments: fiddle, guitar, clarinets, saxes, percussion and voices. Every track is different but nevertheless the CD has a distinctive style.
Meet is predominantly an instrumental CD. The arrangements are at times sophisticated and delightfully simple at others, ranging from rollicking sets like the opening track ‘Musicport’ to the quirky ‘Thyroid Jig’, and beautiful songs like the aptly named last track ‘Closing of the Day’.
