This release presents the complete Elmer Bernstein soundtrack of the 1955
classic Otto Preminger film The Man with the Golden Arm + 12 bonus tracks. The film starred Frank Sinatra, Eleanor Parker, and Kim Novak, and sparked controversy due to its serious, in-depth treatment of the then-taboo subject of drug addiction. In addition to Bernstein's orchestral tracks, the film also containedamazing jazz themes performed by a group led by Shorty Rogers, which was full of West Coast stars.
As a bonus, another complete Elmer Bernstein soundtrack, which he prepared for John Cassavetes' 1959 TV series Johnny Staccato (again boasting a wealth of jazz players).
