Description
This sensational Elemental Music release presents for the first time ever in this format, the exceptional and highly underrated soundtrack written, produced and arranged by Barry White for the 1974 American film directed by William A. Graham, Together Brothers. Released by 20th Century Records the same year, the soundtrack album includes arrangements by The Love Unlimited Orchestra as well as background vocals by The Love Unlimited, the female vocal trio lead by White s wife Glodean James. This album was Barry White s entry into the blaxploitation soundtrack genre. The record is filled with lots of tight little instrumental grooves, produced in the hard edged Love Unlimited Orchestra way with funky drums at the bottom, snapping snare in the middle, and sharp sweeping strings over the top. Love Unlimited sing on a few tracks, but the cuts are mostly instrumentals with a very hard groove that would inspire a lot of hip-hoppers in the next years. Vocal titles as 'Somebody s Gonna Off the Man', 'People of Tomorrow Are the Children of Today,' and 'Can t Seem to Find Him' stand out over the instrumentals although tracks like 'Alive and Well', 'Theme from Together Brothers', 'Do Drop In', and 'Here Comes The Man' give the album a consistent and superb listen.
