Description
Eddie Davis gained his nickname 'Lockjaw' from the title of one of his earliest recordings. His saxophone style was the product of both Rhythm & Blues and an apprenticeship in the Swing bands of Cootie Williams (alongside Charlie Parker), Andy Kirk andothers in the mid 1940s.
Later in his career he became famous for his association with Count Basie. Here we have Lockjaw blowing his best at an English venue with an international quality British group, professionally recorded and issued for the veryfirst time. Great value at two-and-a-quarter hours playing time.
