The chamber works of Polish composer Bacewicz on this album were chosen by violinist Jaga Klimaszewska and by pianist Mateusz Rettner. The album's content is complemented by two little gems – never recorded or even released miniatures – The Song and The Legend.
Grazyna Bacewicz was one of the last musicians to combine an extensive composing activity with numerous performances as a multi-instrumentalist. The influence of performance experience is clearly visible in her output - Bacewicz wrote most of the violin pieces for her own needs. There is a lot going on in the music, it is ravenous and at the same time lyrical.
