Description
This release presents selected works of Carlos Guastavino (1912-2000), one of Argentina's most interesting and recognized composers. Guastavino's compositions feature clear Romantic influences and are distanced from the experiments and formal achievements of 20th-century music. Furthermore, one can also find unmistakable traces of native, Argentinian music. This is particularly noticeable in the composer's songs for voice and piano.
In the pieces featured on this album, one can clearly hear the influence of tango and folk music.
In turn, the Piano Sonata in C-Sharp Minor, although built in accordance with the traditional form of this classical structure, is distinguished by songful themes and an evident dominance of melody.
The following artists are featured in this recording: Jacek Scibor (tenor), Pawel Wegrzyn and Gajusz Keska (piano)
