Description
The two-disc album we present to you is a fascinating journey through the Polish music of the last two centuries. The pretext for its creation was the already second edition of the International Stanis 322;aw Moniuszko Competition of Polish Music. This event is the youngest competition of such significance initiated in recent years in Poland. Its first edition was held in 2019. The second one, despite the pandemic turmoil, took place in 2021, gathering outstanding musicians not only from Poland, but also from various parts of the world, two of whom deserved two honorary first prizes.
The idea behind the implementation of the competition was to present and promote Polish music, not only the music that is endorsed by the well-known names of such composers as Fryderyk Chopin, Karol Szymanowski, or Witold Lutos 322;awski. It is also about the listeners discovering and being introduced to forgotten and often even unknown works of talented artists as well as to the trends in their oeuvre that have so far been on the margin of interest. This applies especially to Polish chamber music, which was the second, next to piano, theme of the competition.
The album features the winning performances in both categories presented by the participants of the International Stanis 322;aw Moniuszko Competition of Polish Music who graced its second edition in 2021.
