Following his acclaimed release of Granados and Liszt on Odradek Records, pianist Domenico Codispoti turns his attention to the music of Astor Piazzolla, performed in arrangements for two pianos with Piazzolla specialist Esteban Ocana.
Piazzolla's is a unique musical voice, an irresistible fusion of his native Argentine tango with classical techniques. This album features some of Piazzolla's most famous works, including Oblivion, Milonga del Angel and Libertango, all performed on two pianos by Italian pianist Domenico Codispoti and Spanish pianist Esteban Ocaña. Highly ranked at the Piazzolla Music Awards, Ocana is an experienced and acclaimed interpreter of Piazzolla's works and a founder member of the Versus Ensemble, which is devoted to performing and recording this composer's music.
