  • Description

WIR WAREN HIER is the trio's sixth album. The band was founded in Stuttgart fourteen years ago and stayed in the current line-up of Kevin Kuhn, Julian Knoth and Max Rieger for twelve years now. DIE NERVEN played their way through the clubs and festivals (Roskilde, Melt!, Appletree Garden, Sziget, Eurosonic), and were the first German-speaking band to release on the style-defining US label Amphetamine Reptile Records. In 2015, they released their third album OUT on Glitterhouse Records and toured extensively far beyond the borders of Germany, leading to their first live record LIVE IN EUROPA in June 2017. FAKE then, with number 13 a chart success for the band, marked the breakthrough at the latest. Their 2022 self-titled, fifth album DIE NERVEN and extensively touring even topped that. Their music is still angry, loud, dramatic, perhaps you could even say nihilistic. But it's a more mature nihilism than you've ever heard from them. DIE NERVEN were never so close to the aura of their live performances on a studio album as on 'WIR WAREN HIER' - the spontaneity of their interplay on stage, the stop-and-go of their improvisations, the joy of surprising each other, and finally: the collective release into the catharsis. Wastage and the ruthless poisoning of the world: this is now a topic for DIE NERVEN. Nevertheless, they don't want to moralise: "There is no right life in the wrong one," says the band. It is impossible for a person to do everything right anyway. But what is possible is not to let the desperate overall situation blur ones view of the beauty that still remains in this world. WIR WAREN HIER is not just an album about what remains when the human race has disappeared. It is also an album with music that is able to understand and describe disappearance as happiness: happiness that you feel when you know how to travel to places where the ugliness of reality is precluded, at least for a moment. Such places are the places of friendship. DIE NERVEN wrote the new songs in a four-week session in a former restaurant in Stuttgart's Schlossgarten with a view to the opera. "We were all in a room together again and suddenly everything just worked out. Melodies that link all the songs together formed as if by itself
