Shred Kelly is a five piece, alternative folk rock band that emerged from the heart of the Canadian Rockies in 2009. Over the past decade the band have taken their highly energetic live show from humble beginnings on the Canadian ski-town circuit to the international stage. The band's striking and energy-packed sound has evolved from their eclectic musical influences and their unique experiences as individuals. Their progressive pairing of acoustic instrumentation with electric counterparts, harmonies, and driving rhythm, continues to develop and reach new heights. Their latest album 'Like A Rising Sun', produced by Nygel Asselin and mixed by Ben Kaplan, is the group's fifth offering and their most raw autobiography.
This album is an honest reflection of band members personal experiences of starting a family, losing a loved one, and coming out on the other side forever changed. With such upheaval comes an outpouring of explosive, fast-paced, and anthemic acoustic rock. Recording the album was not an easy feat. Having lost a loved one and having a new child at the studio presented the band with challenges they had not experienced in previous recording sessions. These obstacles also worked as fuel to inspire the group to work harder and dig deeper to produce their best work. Nygel Asselin was an amazing producer to work with, as he worked 16 hour days, explored any ideas that were presented, and pushed Shred Kelly to produce their best offering yet while creating an environment that supported their new circumstances in life.

Over the years, Shred Kelly has had the opportunity to perform across Canada and internationally at festivals such as Reeperbahn Festival, Australian Music Week, Folk Alliance, SXSW, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Ottawa Bluesfest, Mariposa Folk Festival, SKOOKUM Festival, and Kaslo Jazz Etc Festival.
