From Co Carlow 27 year old Derek has been involved in Music from an early age. It was first through Traditional music and two All Ireland Fleadh Ceoil titles that Derek came to prominence. Then his singing talents soon became recognised as Derek became the lead Singer of Irish boy band D Side and gained great exposure on Top of the Pops, Late Late show, GMTV as well as 3 top 10 UK hits.
Harbouring a keen interest ins song writing Derek began collaborating with writers in Nashville the home of Country Music which rekindled his love and passion for Country and it wasn’t long until the self penned song ‘Gods Plan’ was one of the most played and most popular songs on Country Radio Stations in Ireland. His new CD features many other songs written by Derek as well at the title track ‘A Mothers Son’ & ‘ The Belle Of Liverpool’. The 12 track CD also includes a great version of the Country Classic ‘There Stands The Glass’ as well as a terrific modern arrangement of the favourite ‘Run To The Door’.
