Just four years ago The Guardian voted Ward, “Most likely: to be assured of a golden future.� On the heels of the critical success Ward received with his sophomore album, Golden Future Time, he and his manager moved from his hometown of Vancouver, Canada over to London, England. Taking up part-time work at a pizza shop in Clerkenwell, fortuitously located across from UK promoters and creators of the London Jazz Festival, Serious , an impromptu invite to his monthly show at the restaurant lead to his biggest shows of the year: opening slots for grammy-winner Lisa Fischer, Becca Stevens, Jacob Collier and a sold-out show at the historic Union Chapel with fellow Canadian, Frazey Ford. While in London, Ward started to seed the ideas for his latest album, Violet, Gold + Rose.
