Cult composer/arranger/producer David Axelrod had already set classical themes to rock music on the Electric Prunes' Mass in F Minor when he went for Baroque in 1971 and tackled Handel's Messiah with frequent collaborator Cannonball Adderley conducting the orchestra. The instrumentation is psychedelic, swinging and groovy, but Axelrod's masterstroke was using a gospel choir for the vocal parts. First time reissued in any format-a Real Gone resurrection!
