After the resounding success of his violin and cello concertos (with 999271-2 being awarded a BBC Music Magazine Critic's Choice) which revealed his unique charm, CPO is happy to announce this new release of Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari's complete wind concertos. The 'Idillio Concertino' has a rather carefree, serene character, and it is especially the second movement that justifies its title. The 'Bassoon Concerto' too is a musical fantasy with a scherzo touch here and there, while the English Horn Concerto creates more of a melancholy mood of elegiac beauty - all of this in keeping with the times in which it was written. The booklet notes are written by well-known German writer Herbert Rosendorfer.
