Description
Michael and Dyann Woody combine strong romantic songwriting with warm Everlys-style close harmony singing. On this, their second album, first released in the USA last year, they perform 11 original compositions and their take on Steve Earle's "Hearts Don't Break", taken at a Buddy Holly gallop. Among the originals there's a gorgeous Everlys-style ballad, "Don't Blame Me"; the bouncy "Honey I'm Wrong" that recalls Conway Twitty & Loretta Lynn's duets; a real country weeper, "Hello Heartache"; a haunting eulogy for the late Byrds drummer Michael Clarke, "Message From Michael"; and their version of Michael Woody's song "He's Back And I'm Blue", which was a Country No.1 hit for the Desert Rose Band in 1988. Altogether a delightful album that should appeal to all fans of harmony singing, not just the hardcore country market.
