Description
The great (though half-forgotten) Marty Robbins was country music's renaissance man. Robbins was adept at singing edged rock & roll, while his voice could also take on a confessional and dramatic tone which he used to perform traditional country, or western songs. He had a way of extending the latter genre's melodic beauty and lyricism without ever seeming repetitive. This quintessential release features Marty Robbins' two finest and most celebrated albums, which were originally released on the Columbia label: Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs (1959) and its follow-up, More Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs (1960).
Here you will find such country favorites as "El Paso," "Big Iron" and "Five Brothers," as well as classic versions of "Streets of Laredo" and "Strawberry Roan," among other western standards. Both masterpieces have been re-mastered and packaged together in this very special collector's edition, which also includes 4 bonus tracks from the same period.
