Description
"There were a lot of years when nobody in the business could follow Ferlin Husky," said Merle Haggard. "He was the biggest live act of the day. A great entertainer." A new Ferlin Husky album is a rare and unexpected treat for fans of traditional country music. Husky sold more than 20 million records, mostly in the 50s and early 60s. He passed away in 2011 at the age of 85 and fans believed that was the end of Husky’s music… until now. These are newly discovered recordings of Husky which had never before been commercially released. They were recorded at Scotty Moore’s Music City Recorders and at Columbia Recording Studios in Nashville between 1972 and 1973. These master tapes were put aside and forgotten, and now with the blessing of the Husky family, they have been turned over to producer Paul Martin whose skillful touch has breathed new life into these ‘lost’ tracks. Martin added backing instruments that include Upright Bass, Acoustic Guitar and percussion. He also added background vocals featuring members of the Husky family, and Jamie Allen Martin. These additions bring this release into the contemporary country era while maintaining the pure and authentic Ferlin Husky sound. Because of these special recordings, Ferlin will continue to live on ... and make some new fans with this project.
